Club Northwest Invitational, Seattle, WA

This weekend we had a track meet in Seattle. Kate and I flew into Seattle around 8 in the morning, but were not going to be picked up until 1230pm. So we stored our bags at the airport (it cost me $19!!) and took the transit system downtown ($5 round-trip!) We basically walked all over Seattle. But is was SUPER fun! First we stopped at good ole Starbucks (because I had a giftcard) to get coffee and I got a pumpkin scone. Then we headed towards Pike's Market. Walking through there we smelled this yummy Russian bakery, and stopped there to get a sweet bread roll with Marion berries and sweet cream frosting. It was delicious! We kept walking around and exploring. We even went to the Art Museum...without paying. You see, their sign at the ticket booth said suggested price, $15. Well, we took that to mean you didn't have to pay if you didn't want to! So we walked in. While we were looking around a security guard came up to us. My first thought was "Oh my goodness, she knows we didn't pay!" But she said to Kate, "You can't have backpacks in here. I don't know why they didn't take it from you at the front desk. You need to take it to the coat storage. It's free." Gee. I wonder why they didn't take it! Lol. Needless to say we just left and headed up toward Niketown, stopping by Mountain Hardwear on the way. We finished our day with sub sandwiches before heading back to the airport.

The meet was pretty good too! I ran the 1500m with a time of 5:20, which is a PR. I hope to hit 5:11 to qualify for Conference!

Spring Break Is Coming Soon!!

I repeat...Spring break is coming soon! Pray for me to finish strong this week! I have a big test in anatomy on Monday...a 4 paper paper on "Apostasy in Islam, A Religious Liberty" due on Tuesday for Baptist Heritage plus a huge lab quiz on Tuesday in anatomy...a huge American Thought and Culture [did I mention spring break is coming soon?!!] test on Wednesday, and a 6 page paper on the 1960 and 1998 Olympics due Friday!! Plus I have a 3 hour track practice every day! Double plus I'm really missing my family and Jason and am ready to be home and have a [short] break!

This has become my prayer:
"Teach me how to rest in Your hands!" (from the song "Ready for You" by Kutless)

PS: Spring break is coming soon! It starts this weekend!

Having fun...oh ya and studying...with Monz and Mel!

(Oh ya we went running too!)
[This was last weekend after our track meet...] After running we showered and ate and then headed out to study. First we went to Coffee House Cafe...but it can draw a weird crows that kinda makes me uncomfortable...and so we left after Mel picked up her water bottle from last time we were there. Then we went to Governor's Cup...but like always it was SO crowded! No tables were open. So we got coffees and walked a couple blocks to Riverfront Park. But then it started to get too windy and a bit rainy. So we went to the Public Library. But it closed at 5. Ya it was quite a crazy day of studying! But so much fun!

More Bridgeport-Valentines Day Fun!

These are all my running girlies! I love them!
This day was so fun! Monica and Kate were there too and I love them too!

Wilamette Invitational, Salem, OR

This weekend was our first track meet and I was so blessed to have Monica come visit too! She is such an awesome friend, I'm so thankful for her and that we can still hang out =). I was really nervous to run my first college meet, but now I am looking forward to the next one! I ran the 1500m. My goal was to hit 5:25. I got confused about which lap I was on and didn't realize it was my last lap until 200m left! So I had a lot left when I finished! I finished in 5:26.01, 8th out of 10. I am looking forward to the next meet when I won't get confused and can give a lot more in the race =) I hope to break 5 by the end of the season! I also ran first leg for the 'B' team 4x4oom relay. Now, I don't even know why they make our 'B' team run this...because we all run slower than 64 second 400ms, whereas our 'A' team runs in the 58s and 60s. So we are significantly slower! We finished about 200m behind the last team...but at least we all ran our best! Overall, it was a great meet! Praise God!

It's Been A While...

...and I could say a lot... To start with, this has been the perfect time to give up my blog, because I have been overloaded with homework. I've spent many nights up till 2am...and most of the last couple of weekends just doing solid homework. I'm constantly sleepy and struggling to stay awake in class =/ and in chapel...and in church. =/ So that's been a bit discouraging. Also my legs have been so strong for out track workouts Monday - Wednesday, but Thursday and the rest of the week they are burned out!! So I'm trying to figure that one out as well... =/

I have been learning and growing a lot through all this though! I'd love to write it all here but it's a lot and it's hard when you don't know the exact context. I am learning one big thing though: the definition of freedom - is love. I'm learning to bask and rejoice and dwell in the freedom of being loved by God. This is a love that nothing can separate me from! This is a love that works all things for good! Because of this love nothing can harm me. Even when things seem "bad" in my perspective, they are being worked for good. Thus I am more than a conqueror! This is a love that allows me to make mistakes and still be loved. This is a love that pours out grace into my life. This is a love that says sin has no dominion over me. This is a love that gives me the Holy Spirit as a helper. This is a love that brings me freedom! On a smaller scale, the love Jason has for me brings me freedom as well. He has been so gracious and patient and understanding in these weeks of overwhelming homework. These weeks mean I am stressed and more prone to worrying or misunderstanding...but he is patient and steadfast to encourage me and help me grow. These weeks mean shorter conversations and limited skype dates, but he encourages me to get my homework done first. His love gives me the freedom to be me. To be stressed, to be weak, to make mistakes. To be growing, to be happy, to be content. God has been teaching me great things. And He has given me a great blessing named Jason Paul Koemans.

Later tonight I'll write about my track meet from this weekend!
